Warning Description: Areal Flood Advisory

Warning Date: 11:56 PM EDT on July 23, 2008

WarningSum:

Warning Message:The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued an
* urban and small stream flood advisory for minor flooding of poor
  drainage areas in...
eastern Bertie County in northeast North Carolina...
this includes the city of Windsor...
Chowan County in northeast North Carolina...
  this includes the cities of...Ryland...Edenton...
southern Gates County in northeast North Carolina...
  this includes the cities of...Sunbury...Gatesville...
southeastern Hertford County in northeast North Carolina...
northwestern Pasquotank County in northeast North Carolina...
western Perquimans County in northeast North Carolina...
  this includes the cities of...Winfall...Hertford...
* until 300 am EDT
* at 1155 PM EDT National Weather Service radar indicated nearly
stationary thunderstorms producing heavy rainfall across the area.
Radar has estimated that between one and two inches of rain has
occurred during the past hour.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
advisory area.
Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one
foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the
Road. When encountering flooded roads make the smart choice...turn
around...dont drown.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause elevated levels on
small creeks and streams...and ponding of water on country roads and
farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.
